Subject:Error shutdown after selecting ASIO

When I select ASIO on the preferences and click "OK" I get a series of errors and then Acid 6 shuts down (exits). It seems to work so long as I do not use the ASIO drivers from my Lynx soundcard. Anyone have a clue on this? some of the errors... there are several in a row... mention re-wire problem, others too though.

Steven,

Please fill out your system specs.

Which Lynx card do you have?
What driver version are you using?

Note:
The ReWire notification is just an indication that something crashed ACID. It is a debug message produced by the ReWire subsystem that ACID connects to, even if you don't use any ReWire compatible applications. This message is actually produced by left over debug code in Propellerheads ReWire drivers.

I am using the Lynx AES16 card with the most current driver (version 2, build 13k) released May 16, 2006.

Is the Lynx card set to slave to an external clock source?

If so, does this clock source match your ACID project sample rate?

Peter, my Lynx card is set to "internal" and adjusts to whatever application rates are set. In my Sound Forge 8.0 the Lynx ASIO works fine. But for some reason, the Acid 6.0 keeps returning the errors and then shutting down. My Acid 5.0 works well, should I just request a refund or do you think we can make this work for Acid 6.0 too.

Peter, I uninstalled and reinstalled Acid Pro 6.0a again... but still no luck. Same problem with errors in trying to set to the ASIO in preferences/audiodevice. But it works fine for Sound Forge 8.0 for me. I have not upgraded Sound Forge from original release for fear of losing my noise reduction module and presets again. Perhaps that has been corrected.
I am eager to hear what you think we can do next to make Acid work.

Hey StevenGurg, I noticed that the first line of code in your error refers to EAX-CS. Do you have a Creative Sound Blaster card installed on your system ? I have had few issues with a PCMCIA vesrion of SB2 and I might suggest you look into the SB settings. I do not use Acid 6.0 so unforyunately I am unable to be specific to your needs, but I had to select a project setting of (48-24) in Cubase in order to stop getting this message. Also, I had a version of SampTank that needed to be updated. Maybe some Rewire device needs to be updated. This may not be your issue at all,but I am just trying to help b/c I know how frustrating down time can be. Good luck, luces.

Thank you, but no, I don't have a sound blaster card. Only a Lynx AES16 card is in and enabled.
Thank you for your ideas.

I don't have this hardware so I can't evalutate what may or may not be happening. That is does not happen in Vegas or Forge is very interesting.

At this point, I don't know what to tell you. With out the hardware I can't even guess.

I guess I am with you... I don't have a clue either. What I do know is that I just purchased the update and now it does not function as I thought it would. Would you suggest that I apply for a refund and mail the discs back to Sony Media Software?
The tech support at Lynx do not know why the sony product will not work either. Lynx Studios puts out a pretty high end card and convertors. I don't know what to do...

I am trying to identify the problem. I am waiting for a Lynx card. I have contacted Lynx, and they are going to have a look as well.

I assure you that once we determine the cause it will be address in a future update. Hopefully there will be a simple work around.

I can't tell you what to do beyond this as I don't yet know what the problem is.

thank you for trying, Peter. I too have contacted Lynx and they said they would obtain a copy of Acid 6.0a and hopefully it can be figured out. I would love to be able to use the ASIO with Acid.
I will sit tight and hope you guys get it figured out.
Thank you again.

You will probably be interested to know that I also get these debug messages, even though I have never installed Propellerhead software on my system. These ReWire errors, along with something called a "VERIFY" error are among the string of crash messages I get when the Acid 6.0a demo shuts me down.

ACID is a ReWire Mixer. Wwe are required to install the ReWire dlls. Therefore you will see these msgs.

Any progress on helping me get Acid Pro 6.0a to run with ASIO?
thanks Peter.

I have the same problem with my Lynx Two C ASIO driver. Odd that it works with every other program -- including every other Sony program -- and not Acid. Such are the labyrinthine complexities of drivers -- and code in general -- I suppose.

I have identified and addressed this problem. It will be part of a future update to ACID 6.

(No, I don't know when this update will be available.)
