Subject:Creating drum tracks for old songs

I have an old song, recorded digitally, that I want to retrofit with a drum track created from loops. I'm using Acid Music Studio with the Fleetwood drum loops. My original project is 150 bpm and so I created my Acid project at the same setting. I put together a small drum track & it works great but the Acid drum track is slightly faster than my original track. I tried 149.5 bpm and that's closer.

Am I nuts trying to do this?

Thanks.

Mike

If the version of ACID Music Studio that you have (you didn’t say which version) has the Beatmapper function, then you should be using this to beatmap the song to the ACID project. If the song was recorded at a steady tempo this should fix the problem.

Actually I am using Music Studio although XMC has Beat Mapper too. The original song is at 150 bpm because I used a drum machine as my backbeat. I tried Beat Mapper the first time & it estimated the tempo at 108 (or something). The tempo is only a little off I should add.

I'm now trying this same approach on a song recorded originally at 120 bpm & I'm having no problem syncing up a looped drum track to it.

If you have Vegas I would convert the drums to audio, then synch them with the rest in Vegas by Splitting and Ctrl-stretching/squeezing wherever necessary.
Doesn't take long, in fact you may find that Ctrl / edge dragging the whole drum clip unsplit may do the trick.

(I may be wrong, but don't think Acid yet has all these functions from Vegas)
