I'm pretty sure I'll either get ignored or the usual non-answer on this one, but just asking for shits and giggles: Any chance the Novation Remote SL Automap feature will be implemented on ACID any time soon? |

We are aware of this technology and will discuss this with Novation. I would really like to know your experiances with the Novation technology. It is new and I have only read a few reviews. SOS had a great review and really liked the "promise" of this technology. What are your experiances with the Novation technology? Do you have a device that supports this? If so, how have you found it to work for you? What other products have you used it with? What were the postives and negatives? What do you think the benifits will be for users at large of ACID - or any other products. What do you think is the importance of this technology? Personally I love technology and psuedo-standards like this. Too bad it is proprietary to Novation. It would be better to have a universal standard for this so any hardware device could take advantage of it. A bit of an aside... Just curious as to why you believe your negative approach is more likely to get a positive reaction. Do you think your approach makes me - or other devs here - want to respond? Wouldn't it be better to simply ask: Are there any plans to support XYZ's new technolgy in ACID? Then tell us why - in your experiance with the technology - that you believe it would benifit the product. I will say this again. We read all of the posts here. Just because nobody responds does not mean your msg isn't read or your comments ignored.. Still, you are more likely to get into a constructive dialog with us if you are just a bit more positive in your approach. Peter Message last edited on5/25/2006 9:58:24 AM bypwppch. |

Yeah, I know, sorry man, just been super frusterated with ACID Pro 6 so far. I can get snippy when my patience is tested on something I take so seriously, so nothing personal, just venting a bit. Anyways.. on the Novation. I just ordered a Novation RemoteSL37 today, but won't have a chance to try it out until I get it in a week or so. I'll post a full review of it if you'd like, as soon as I do get it. I've been researching it heavily, and I havn't been able to do what I've been trying to do these days in ACID, so I've been messing around with Ableton Live 5 and Reason 3 a lot, both of which now have full Remote SL automap integration at this time. The way I see it, the SL and automap is absolutely the future for software control, and is exactly what I've been waiting for hardware software controllers to do for the last 5 years. For instance, in Reason 3, you can just punch the automap control on the Novation, and it'll load the mixer right up on the controls and LCDs on the right hand side, and then automatically instantly load up and map the device controls and LCD on the left side in realtime as you click on them. You can jump to a new bank of 8 faders, or up to 3 layers of controls per controller on the left side with just button presses. No confusion as to what control controls what, no rediculous paper templates, it's all right there displayed in logical fashion on the LCD in plain english including the current parameter value, without you having to spend a half hour manually assigning everything. Plus full back-and-forth communication with controller and software so the parameters on the SL and the software always match up. As far as how ACID can benefit from this.. I mean, boom, instant hardware studio in software. Should just be able to scroll through banks of mixer channels at the touch of a button, be able to automap the controls of VST plugs/instruments just by clicking on them. I read that SOS review as well, and it was a good article, but to get the full scope of what they're doing with the SL and automap these days, I'd recommend checking out Novations website (www.novationmusic.com). As far as my experience with Novation technology: I have V-station, and it is by far my favorite and go-to VST instrument for synth sounds. I own a Novation KS4 hardware synth. Again, top notch sound (only marginally rivaled by Access Virus), solid controls. I had an X-Station for awhile, but got rid of it because I hated the knobs on it, and I just didn't feel like it was what I needed (as opposed to the Remote SL). Hope that states my case. |

Yes, the technology is very cool. We are trying to get some hardware and more info from Novation so we can look into supporting this. Thanks Peter |

Is there any progress on the Novation Remote SL Automap for Acid? I want to buy a new keyboard/controller, and the Novation Remote SL looks promising. Anybody using one with Acid? |
