Subject:track labels in the way

Is there a way to turn off the labels (e.g., "Clip 1") that appear at the far left end of recorded tracks? It's very annoying to have that label covering up the sound wave when trying to align or edit a track. This should be an option if it's not already, but I sure don't see a way to turn it off. |

The problem with turning off Event Information is that it turns off ALL event information, including the useful bits. For example, if you alter the pitch of a loop, it shows up on the track with a + or -. This is absolutely needed at all times. But if you turn off the track label, it also turns off the + and - indicators of pitch shift. I find this irritating. |

Feign.....I agree with you on this. However, you can work around this by using the pitch indicator on the track channel strip (defined with a + or - just like on the audio itself). If there are only pieces of a certain loop that you want to pitch then you: 1) duplicate track 2) use split at cursor to delete the part you want to pitch from the main loop 3) use split at cursor on the duplicated track to delete everything except the part that you pitching 4) click on the channle strip of the duplicated track and + or - until the pitch is where you want it. Sounds complicated and may take up work space, but at least you can keep track of whats pitched visually by looking at the channel strips. |

Merlyn, thanks. Your suggestion works. But it sure can be clumsy, when I'm pitch-shifting a loop in 5 or 6 different ways throughout a track, and wanting to do it quickly and on the fly at times. I hope Sony can fix this little irritation. It's an example of adding a new feature of marginal use (track labels), which interferes with an essential feature. Is there a URL for Acid bug reports? I've reported this on the "product suggestion" page, but I wonder if that is the best place to report it. |

It's not a bug since ACID is doing exactly what the programmers intended it to do, even if it's not what you want it to do. You're asking for it to do something else, so "product suggestion" is the appropriate place. |

To me it's more of an oversight on the part of the programmers, not a planned feature. So my comment is something inbetween a bug report and a suggestion. I guess that they respond sooner to things that users consider to be bugs. |

You can also go into Options|Customize Keyboard and under the Global header, add your own convenient shortcut key, for "ShowEventInformation". I chose the "F4" key. Now with the press of a single key I can easily turn the track labels on & off, as needed. Cheers, Billy Buck |
