Subject:What Bit Rate Should I Use For Website

HI IM ADDING MY SONGS I RECORDED TO MY WEBSITE AND IM WANTING TO USE THE SMALLEST FILE POSSIBLE WITHOUT LOOSING ALOT OF QUALITY. WHEN I RENDER MY MP3 I REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT BIT RATE I SHOULD USE TO KEEP IT A SMALL FILE WHERE I DONT USE ALOT OF MY MB SPACE ON MY WEBSITE. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.....EDDIE

Try various bitrates and see what sounds good to you. 128Kbsp is the standard for stereo files on the web. If your audience isn't too picky you could probably get away with 64Kbps without it sounding too bad.

I wouldn't use anything less than 128kbps myself.

But, since we all have different ears, you should listen to your music at different bit rates and choose the smallest that is acceptable to you.

If you want to please the golden ear types, you will need to crank that bit rate quite high, up to 320kbps. Depending on the program material high bit rates may not be as important, eg., hard rock vs. classical.
