I am trying to automate VSTi effect parameters, but am having difficulty working it out.

Can anyone please help?

There seems to be a problem with VSTi automation envelopes not being enabled after you save and re-load the project (which Sony is aware of). Is that the difficulty you are referring to?

When I select the effect parameter and enable the envelope, where does the envelope appear?

I think we are talking about two different things. Your post said VSTi. Those are VST Instruments like Kompakt, B4, FM7, etc. Now I believe for are asking about VST FX (not instruments) because you talking about effects.

The effects automation envelope should appear right in the track that the effects is on. For VSTi automation (which is what I thought you were originally asking about) they appear on the bus-track which you expose with the ‘B’ key.

But for what you are trying to do, the envelope should appear right in the track,. If the parameter is set to either its min or max, the envelop will be at the very bottom or top of the track respectively. Try setting the parameter manually somewhere in the middle and the envelop line will be more obvious. Then just double click it where you want a keyframe to be added to change the parameter’s value.
