Ummmmm, i guess i'll throw in my "so what?" to that. Anything anyone posts in a public web page is up for grabs. It doesn't matter if you post a copyright or usage restrictions. As soon as someone else sees it, they can do whatever they want with it. So don't think you or your child is safe posting things even on your own web page on your own server. Kinda reminds me of all the moms who have emailed me over the years asking how they can prevent website visitors from saving copies of their children's pictures they have posted. I always tell them there's no way to prevent this, that in fact as soon as a visitor sees the picture on his screen, he's already downloaded it to his hard drive. The moms are pretty much universally shocked by this and wonder how to protect their children's pictures. To that i usually ask, "protect them from what?" Are they worried that someone's going to print it out and draw a mustache on it? It's just a picture. If you're that worried about other people seeing it, don't post it to begin with. Myspace/Murdoch is no different. The press has had access to information on websites, even competitor's websites, ever since the web started. |
