Coming from Acid Pro 3, it was nice to see the addition of a metronome in AP6, as I had always been using my own homemade click track for recording. However, when I listen back to what I recorded, there is an annoying delay of a couple tenths of a second -- what I record is always a little behind the click whether I use the metronome or my own click track. I've never run into this before, and while it's easy enough to shift the track over a tad it's still troublesome. I'm using a SB Audigy 2 ZS on a P4 3GHz with 2GB RAM running XP SP2. |

Are you using the ASIO drivers for your Audigy? These will give you the lowest latency. If you are, try making your buffer a little smaller to get the latency lower. My guess is your current latency is set to 50ms which is the 5/10ths of a second delay you are experiencing. ~jr |

There was a thread about this exact issue a couple of weeks back. It just takes a little adjustment and you'll hit bang on every time. |

>50ms which is the 5/10ths of a second Actually that would be 5/100ths of a second. Cheers, Randy |

Actually, if I try to use any other audio device other than Sound Mapper or Classic Wave Driver I get an error message stating that, "The device SB Audigy 2 ZS [B800] does not support the current sample rate or bit depth," though obviously the card is capable of much more than the default 44.1/16 I am using. I did try changing a number of settings related to latency and buffers but cannot seem to solve the problem. |

The Audigy does not actually support 44.1 kHz natively. The Wave/WDM driver emulate 44.1 kHz. This can cause the out of sync recording. If you set your ACID project to 48 khz and use the ASIO drivers you will achieve accurate sync when recording. Peter |

Thanks for the tip -- that made the difference. However, now I have a new problem. Now when I arm a track prior to recording, it breaks my analog line in connection and I can't hear anything. The signal is getting there because the meter moves, but I can't hear it. I have to go to the SB Audigy mixer and turn Line In off and then on again to be able to hear it. |

> Actually that would be 5/100ths of a second. Oops. You’re right. 50/1000 is 5/100. ;-) (my bad) ~jr |

I had same problem every time I arm a track for recording. The audio cuts out and I cant hear the monitor. I just unplugged and re-plugged the cable coming into the input jack on the Audigy and the sound restores instantly. Annoying little bug, but it works. |

I couldn't deal with it, so I went back to MS Sound Mapper and just move the track over a smidge when I'm done recording. For me, it's the lesser of two evils. |

> I couldn't deal with it, ... For me, it's the lesser of two evils. I couldn’t deal with it either so I finally got rid of my Audigy and bought an M-Audio sound card. I haven’t had any troubles since. Now there are no evils. Do yourself a favor and dump the Audigy. It’s never going to work right. ~jr |

I'm sure a pro-level card would be better, but the truth is that the Audigy card worked perfectly with Acid 3, no latency whatsoever, so the problem has arisen because of the software, not the hardware. Also, since I end up slicing and dicing my tracks anyway because of inaccuracies when I perform whatever I'm recording, it's no big deal. Message last edited on5/5/2006 7:11:58 AM byhikinfool. |

I have had this same problem while trying to record the ASIO Send channels of a Line 6 Toneport UX1. The second I hit the record arm button to record to a new audio track, I get a roughly 1/8th note delay in what's being laid down to tape (er.. hard drive) as compared to all the unarmed tracks. As long as I keep the track record armed, it plays back in sync, even though I can see on the timeline that the waveforms are off by about an 1/8th note. When I disarm the record button on the track, it plays back out of sync as indicated by the timeline. If I arm the track again, it plays back in sync until unarmed. What the fuck. This seems to be the case regardless of what latency/buffer times are set, and I have to always manually reallign the recorded tracks (which gets pretty tedious on a laptop touchpad, especially with multiple recorded clips). Anybody have any suggestions? Is this another ACID bug, or am I doing something wrong? |
