Subject:What Version of Audio restoration?

Good day everyone. I am using SF 8.0d and I was wondering if the Audio Restoration feature is the same as the Noise Reduction 2 or is it just a stripped down version of the NR 2? I have some audio that I will be needing to remove "hum" and I did not know if the Audio Restore will handle this or not. I don't have the actual files yet,but I told the client that "Sure I can remove hum from your audio" and now, I am hoping I did not tell a fib. I have used the Audio restore to clean up some old LP transfers, but not to remove hum.

Thanks for any info. luces

There is no stripped-down version of NR 2 accompanying SF. But you can attenuate hum by using filters.
I like to use the paragraphic EQ with the narrowest possible bandwidth.
No matter which frequency your "hum" is, you probably will have to do the same operation on the most prominent harmonics. You might want to run the same filter more than once for any given frequency, too.

The 'Audio Restoration' is not NR2, and has very basic functionality - click removal and generic HF noise reduction with a few controls.

Hum removal is not one of the features. You could do think with a parametric eq with a narrow notch on the fundamental (50 or 60Hz depending where you are) and smaller atten ones on the first few harmonics.

I thought that NR 2 was not included in SF8. Thanks for the tips.
