hi:
i plug my evolution keyboard controller into my computer and when i depress the controller keys, i see movement on the software- but no sound. however when i depress the keys on the screen with my mouse i get sound. funny thing is, when i load the NI express that came with acid5 into acid 6, i can control the sounds in the sorftware with my controleer no problem. i assume i'm doing something wrong: any suggestions?
thanks!

Are you sure your MIDI keyboard is transmitting on the same channel that the soft synth is listening to? If some work and other don’t it’s usually a MIDI channel assignment problem.

i had that same problem.. make sure you restart acid after plugging the MIDI keyboard in... in 5, i had to choose it everytime (once in your soft-synth, upper right corner.. chose your keyboard)

hope that works...

hmm..
i tried your suggestion but still the same problem. my evolution will depress the keys, but only the mouse will produce sounds. kompact seems really cool, wish i could use it.

The fact that the keys are being pressed means that MIDI messages are getting through.

The fact that you hear sound when depressing the keys with the mouse means that Kompakt is working.

So the only thing left is that the input channel is not matching the Kompakt channel.

I would try loading the same patch into 16 slots on Kompakt, and set each slot to respond to a different MIDI channel. One of them must respond to your input!

i use more analog insstruments and loops than midi- i nfact i've neber done more than toy around with midi in the past, beacause i've never had a tool as powerful ads kompakt. would you mind detailing for the ignorant how to assign the channels together- i honestly don't have a clue.
thanks a lot!

switchman...
make sure your keyboard is connected and...
open acid, start new...
first thing to check is preferences... (Options, Preferences)
then click on the MIDI tab. do you see your keyboard under there? you should.. should be checked as well
if it is... good
no add a soft synth.. just to test use sony DLS....
once it opens it will default to piano 1(patch 0)...
hit a key or your keyboard... do you hear anything? do you see the key being pressed on the software keyboard?
if still nothing...
insert MIDI track... and on that track select the sony DLS synth....
under MIDI inputs (right under midi track number), make sure it is set to AUTO (top option), make sure MIDI channel is set to ALL, and have the bottom option checked as well, (send midi input thru TO midi output)

let me know how that goes!
