What are the limitations of Acid Kompakt as compared to the regular Kompakt? Can I load commercial Kompakt format sample sets? Thanks. |

From the manual for the special edition: "The Sony ACID Pro edition is not able to load instruments created with the full versions of Kontakt or Kompakt. The KOMPAKT Sony ACID Pro edition is restricted to instruments built especially for KOMPAKT Sony ACID Pro edition but it can import the mentioned 3rd party instruments formats (AKAI etc.) and save these as KOMPAKT Sony ACID Pro edition compatible patches." Other than that, I believe the full version of Kompakt comes with 200 instead of 120 instruments. HTH, Iacobus |

"Other than that, I believe the full version of Kompakt comes with 200 instead of 120 instruments. HTH, Iacobus" This seems to beg the question: Since "special instruments" were built for Kompakt and this version of Acid, would the full version of Kompakt play well in A6? Just curious. . . drbam |

I don’t see why the full version of Kompakt wouldn’t work. I have the full version of Kontakt and it works great in ACID 6. The “special instruments” are just a different file format that the Sony version uses. I guess NI did this so they could “up-sell” to the full version. But the fully version will work. ~jr |

Can I at least load in my own wav files and create ACID KOMPAKT instruments? |

"Can I at least load in my own wav files and create ACID KOMPAKT instruments?" Sure. Just use the file browser button (in the upper left in the "multi" section). Drag and drop samples from the browser onto the keyboard. If you want to tweak samples, see the full manual under Start > All Programs > Native Instruments Kompakt Sony ACID Pro > Kompakt_Sony.pdf. (It's in Adobe Reader format.) Everything you need to know is in there. Iacobus |
