If I record a bunch of MIDI files and then want to save the output of the VST's to a single audio file, Im stuck. I mute all but the two MIDI tracks and their respective synths and arm a new audio track to record. Hit record. I hear the output, but cant seem to get the resulting audio to record in the new audio track. Am I going about this the wrong way? Not a keyboard player. Want to record MIDI for left hand, then MIDI for right hand and combine the resulting output from the VST (both MIDI files play to the same VST)into a single audio file. Thanks Flo |

Use the tool "Render to new track", found under the "Tools" menu. Bo |

so...selecting multiple midi files will render their output to one wav file? |

Rendering will take whatever you hear on the timeline and create one .wav file from it. Assemble your MIDI files on the timeline however you want them and render. If all you're after is the resulting .wav file then an ordinary render rather than rendering to a new track is probably more appropriate. |

Adding to what Kelly said, as long as the MIDI is routed to a soft synth, it will render to a new track as digital audio. To isolate a portion of the MIDI, place the Loop Region over the portion you want and the "render loop region only" option under the render to new track dialog. Of course, be aware that any newly-rendered track will have a track-level volume fader cut applied based upon the preview fader, so if it sounds softer than the original tracks it was rendered from, it's because of that. Just double-click the volume fader for the track to set it to unity and you're set. :) Iacobus |

Thank you! It wasn't just me, though. JohnnyRoy was the main man behind it all. I was there as backup. :) Iacobus |
