b214 Bug: Put pitch shift on a track and press play. Crash.

Wishes:

1. Measure.Beat.Ticks: Ticks are not musically useful. The option of using sub-beats would be better - i.e.: 1.1.1.1, 1.4.2.3, etc.

2. Acccuracy for sound design when using automation on plugin effects:

Use a 1 second noise sample from Sound Forge. Use the automatable resonant filter plugin and enable Frequency for automation. Set the envelope for a sweep that lasts 400 ms from top to bottom of range from the beginning of the sample. Loop the one sample. Play and listen.

The envelope never plays exactlly the same way twice. This kind of timing isn't very relevant for music, but it is critical for sound design.

3. A few things from Vegas I miss: having mute and takes on the right click for events.

Thanks for this great marriage of technologies.

Ticks are pretty standard in all music software. I don't know if it would even be possible to go with something else. You have the option to use grid settings for finer subdivisions of beats.

well, standard or not, I agree that ticks are a pretty silly way of expressing musical time. As for bugs, I get crashes switching buss routing on soft synths kinda regularly...that happening to anyone else?

Actually Logic displays 4 subdivisions of the bar (1.1.1.3) before resorting to ticks. Nuendo does three (1.1.1.384). ProTools does it the way Acid does it (or vice-versa).

With regards to missing features from Vegas, I also miss the right-click Normalize, and the free time-stretching of events.

Encountered same bug here. Oddly enough, it's only Sony's pitch shifter that crashes, as all the third-party ones I have work without a hitch.

1) Not to be an ass or anything, but aren't we already using sub-beats? ACID's resolution goes all the way down to 64th notes. It takes sixteen 64th notes to make one beat (in common time).

2) I can repro. This may be a bug. I do the same thing in Sound Forge (with the automatable envelope) and it doesn't happen. However, if you render to a new track, the issue goes away. Hmm.

Hi mD,

"1) Not to be an ass or anything, but aren't we already using sub-beats? ACID's resolution goes all the way down to 64th notes. It takes sixteen 64th notes to make one beat (in common time)."

It's just easier and faster to tell you're on the 3rd sixteenth of the 3rd beat of the 4th bar with "4.3.3.0" than with "4.3.576". That's all I'm saying.
