Subject:Easy Question on Automatic Latency Adjusting

i totally undestand what latency is, so not to worry about that. my question is about the option to "Automatically detect and offset for hardware recording latency"

I currently am using the Presonus Firepod, which i must say is the best thing out there for audio interfaces. the Firepod has zero latency monitoring. Basically a dial that "pans" between the direct input line and the playback (from Acid for example). If i crank the latency up to 25 ms, which i can control with the Firepod, i only notice the latency when i activate "Input Monitoring" through Acid 6.0 and turn my Firepod's zero latency monitoring all the way to "Playback". this way i'm only hearing what's coming out of Acid. Now, i for one hate hearing the latency. so i turn my dial on my Firepod back to 50% input and 50% playback so i hear both in realtime. i also disable input monitoring on acid. Now i'm in Zero latency monitoring mode. with my latency set to 25 ms and using Acid's metronome, will acid offset for my latency making my recording sound dead nuts on with the automatic latency offset enabled?

p.s. granted this would be a major issue i was using plugins that i wanted to hear during recording, but i'm not, so input monitoring through Acid 6.0 isn't needed.

If I understand what you are asking, the answer is yes.

Automatic Latency setting in ACID is for sync'ing input with output for recording. If you are using the Firepod ASIO driver, you do not need to adjust this as ASIO defines the mechanism to assure that recorded material can be aligned to the output on the timeline.

hey thanks peter. by increasing my latency i'm able to push my DAW harder.
