When I open a track fx the plug-in chooser shows up. I open a folder and there are no FX in them. I get a rundll error when I scan for Vst FX. Does anyone know what is up? How do I get my FX up?

Which version of ACID? You should at least have the Sony plug-ins available.

I'm using AP6. I go to AP5 and there are tons of fx but none in 6.

Sound like a corrupt installation. I would uninstall, reboot, re-install and see if that clears it up.

It was the uninstall from hell. I finally found the problem. It was one of two things and maybe both.

1. System Mechanic which has a registry cleaner deletes items that AP needs to function properly and

2. Uninstalling and reinstalling and uninstalling and re installing over and over trying to get the damn program to run correctly screwed up the media manager. I found a knowledge base fix for it that required uninstalling everything right down to the file folders. Upon reinstalling AP5 then Ap6 from scratch everything worked fine... UNTIL I then installed Sound Forge 7.

Now when I left click the slider for plugins nothing happens. I get option for the plugin chooser when I right click but the properties page won't come up for the effect...

I'm really starting to like my Sonar 5 alot more lately... no bugs, no stupid media manager version update problems, ran just fine with System Mechanic... with my day job it has taken me nearly 2 weeks to get AP6 to run correctly. Took Sonar 5 one day...

I know some people will disagree with me but programs like this are an accident waiting to happen. There is NO WAY that these programs can know for sure what is needed and what is not needed in your registry. Oh sure, they can see if a file exists and delete a link in the registry to it, but other than that, anything else they delete is asking for trouble. I have tried them all and they all eventually mess up your PC so that programs won’t work and cannot be reinstalled. I will never run a registry cleaner again. You really can’t blame Sony if you are mucking with registry settings. I would advise against using these programs.

FWIW,

When you install multiple pieces of software from a vendor and they use shared components, it's usually best to install them in order from oldest to newest. That way you don't risk that an older installer overwrites new components. You should have installed AP6 last instead of SoundForge 7. I use an even older version of SF myself (5.0f) and AP6 and all my plugins are working well.
