Subject:UAD-1 Card Posted by: daize Date:4/30/2006 10:36:24 AM don't see any info on the forums or the user manual about plug-in delay compensation. will the UAD-1 DSP card work okay as a plug-in on tracks as well as the busses. Also, when rendering a new audio file will the plug-in delay cause a digital pop or crackle at the beginning of the new rendered file? Please advise. Thanks.

ACID Pro 6 has full auto PDC, on tracks & buses, so no need to worry about delay compensation issues either on playback or when rendering. I am using the latest v4.2 VST versions. Host tempo-sync works, as well (CS-1, Nigel & RE-201 Space Echo). Cheers, Billy Buck

When I insert my favorite Linear Phase EQ (Firium by elemental audio) in a track EFX chain, my EFX icon turns gold and I get audible delays. The manual says this means it is a "Non-in-place-plug-in". I don't understand that. However, I don't recall having this problem in LIVE5 with the same plugin. I also get the same delay and gold icon when I use a few Voxengo VST plugins (AFImpulse and AFTapebus if I recall correctly). Any thoughts? I really enjoy these plugins and hate to give them up in AP6.

When playing back, ACID used full delay compensation regardless of whether the plugin is in fact inplace or not. When recording and using input monitoring on tracks, any plugin that introduces delay will affect the input monitoring. Because record input monitoring is affected by any plugin latency, you cannot auto compensate for it to remove any delay. When such plugins are used when ACID is ReWired to another host, ReWire does not provide knowlege of the "future" so a ReWire device cannot compensate correctly for plugins that introduce latency. We felt that indicating when a plugin or chain of plugins would introduce a delay during recording or when ACID is used as a ReWire Device was important.
