i need help i just got my system back from being upgraded, and before i could use it my 2 year daughter poured tide all over the inside of the computer.hopefully my work is undamaged. anyway, i am going to by a new system because i will never trust that system. i had 1 uad, and 1 powercore, the powercore work sometimes, the uad worked most of the time except with waves in the chain. how are the uad plugs in 6.0,i never really got a chance to play with it. is it worth it to get a uad card with dual core systems, native pluggins never give me any problems. i love the sound of the la2a limiter but i am trying to decide if its worth it to spend 2,000 dollars on two cards.(1 ultra,1 project, and precision multiband) acid users, i need your help |

First off... http://www.chrismilne.com/uadforums/ And... http://www.powercore.noheaven.com/ Any computer problems with the amd X2 has been discussed in these forums. Uad plugins are doing good in 6. I'd wait till 6.0a to do any projects with them though. Your best bet would be to get a magma chassis and put both UAD+PC cards in that. Overall I'd say it would be worth it to purchase more cards. There is no sign of UAD coming out with a new card anytime soon. Some people are waiting to see if something comes up before buying any more cards. Ed. |

Why do you need to spend 2 grand? Even if your original UAD-1 is no longer functional, you can still transfer the exisitng plugins (your LA-2A), to a new card. What card did you have (Mackie or a Project Pak)? You can also get great deals, on ebay, for used cards. The best deals on new cards will be found @ www.jrrshop.com You'll also get an additional 10% discount, as a registered forum member @ http://www.chrismilne.com/uadforums/ Project Pak's with 10% discount for around $360 Flexi-Pak's with 10% discount for around $630.00 (you get a $500 plugin voucher for UA online shop). So you are basically getting the card (essentially a Project Pak), for $130. I have (2) UAD-1 cards and they are working better than ever in ACID Pro 6. In fact, I can't think of any issues at all! I would not trade my UAD-1 plugins, for anything native. FYI, UA's on the verge of releasing their new Neve 1073 EQ plugin, (first in a series of Neve plugins) , it will probably be their biggest seller yet. Also, a PCI-E compatible card (UAD-2?) will be released this year, as well. Cheers, Billy Buck Message last edited on4/30/2006 11:50:06 AM bybillybk. |
