Subject:Stuttering Playback start

Hi. I have a problem with Sound Forge Audio Studio 8. When I start playing back any sound file, it always stutters the first millisecond. It sort of sounds like a needle bouncing on a record, the way it starts, goes off, then continues again.

I used to have the trial version of Sound Forge 7, and that worked perfectly. So why is this happening? It makes audio editing very difficult, because I'm not hearing exactly what's in the sound file. I'm hearing Sound Forge Audio Studio 8 playing the sound file incorrectly.

Go to Options->Preferences->Audio and increase "Playback buffering" by a tenth of a second or so.

Hey, wow, that worked. That's great :-) I was really worried that this version of Sound Forge wouldn't work properly on my PC. But now it does.

One thing though... shouldn't the playback buffering time be set automatically by the software? It should work out the correct values itself, and just work properly from the moment you install it.

Hi there,

I´ve the same stuttering in SF8.0d on playback AND on zooming even on 50 sec. short voice-wav files. As I use asio drivers, I can´t adjust "Playback buffering", in SF,right? So I changed buffers in the recording-card settings, but didn´t help. So, how might this problem be solved, which always appears after a very short time while editing?
I`ve set up a fresh winXP system with SF8.0d and Acid Pro6. Matrox P 650 and rme9632. All latest drivers.
Thanks for any reply.
