Can Acid 6 overdub or loop record? In other words can I these two things... 1. Can I start recording new audio, loop it and keep recording over the existing recording to keep adding new layers to the recording as I go along? 2. Can Itkae an old audio recording and record additional parts on top of it? Flo |

1. no. You can only do that with midi. 2. Yes. Add the additional tracks and render it. |

How do you do the overdub recording in MIDI? Every time I tried to do that, I couldn't get it to not erase the previously recorded notes. |

Yes, you can do looped takes with Audio, just like in Vegas. With Acid you use "c" to toggle through the takes instead of "t" |

[Psycle wrote] How do you do the overdub recording in MIDI? Every time I tried to do that, I couldn't get it to not erase the previously recorded notes. You have to press the MIDI Merge Record button which is the last button on the right side of the transport just below the timeline. This will keep adding to your existing performance instead of creating new clips. [PeterWright wrote] Yes, you can do looped takes with Audio, just like in Vegas. True but that wasn’t the question being asked. They want to MERGE the previous audio take not make additional takes. ACID (and Vegas) will only add new takes, it won’t merge two audio takes together. ~jr |

I think it's possible to merge audio in Sonar. It just overdubs repeated takes. It would be nice to have this feature in ACID in the future. |

That would just annoy me. There would have to be an option to remove any one or more takes after it is finished. What happens if you decide the take was perfect except for the 3rd pass, where the take was totally ruined? With MIDI merge, I can go in and fix anything I didn't like. I don't know how you could do that with a WAV. |
