Would anyone else besides me like the inline Midi editing mode window to be "undockable" from the timeline. The Midi editing screen in A5 gave you much more room to work with (especially if you have dual monitors like me) since it wasn't on the timeline. It would be great if you could undock this view from the timeline, do all your midi editing and then re-dock it as you saw fit. Scrolling through the piano roll to find your notes and resizing the track view so you can see the events, editing, and then resizing again disrupts my workflow a tad bit in my particular case. I tend to like to see as much of the total project as possible when I work (hence the dual monitors) and I feel that I can't when I'm editing midi in the timeline. Anyone else? To me undocking the inline midi editing would be like creating another timeline. I like the fact that everything is inline, so all contemporary events are lined up. There is of course the separate Piano Roll / List Editor which floats on its own, but when using this you can only hear that particular instrument. I also use dual monitors, and with the right hand one set at 1920 x 1200 I get a pretty good overview of the project, and this is helped a lot by Folder Tracks. |

Actually, the Piano Roll / List Editor window would do just fine for me if you could do the same kind of midi control changes with envelopes (like on the timeline). It just gives you more room to see what your doing with out having to resize the project constantly. Now if a Piano Roll / List Editor type window could be opened that would mirror exactly whats on the midi track in the timeline but just in a seperate window for editing ease (complete with midi control changes envelope automation capabilities), I'd be in heaven. You could then close the editing window and your changes would be applied to the timeline. Hence, everything would stil be inline. Anyone? Message last edited on4/27/2006 1:13:53 PM bymerlyn. |
