Subject:Find this but not this

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how I can combine 'not' criteria with search items. For instance:

Find <this> but NOT <this> and NOT <this>

I can't seem to find a way to do it.

Thanks,
Rusty

If you want to exclude terms, simply put a - (that's a hyphen or minus sign) right before the term (with no space between the - and the term).

For example:

rock guitar -acoustic -jazz

finds any matching media with "rock" and "guitar" but not with "acoustic" or "jazz"

Thanks for replying... I talking about the new media manager in version 5. So this would be in the 'quick text search' area (I could be wrong but I thought this searched all fields)... or can this be done elsewhere... somewhere where I can limit the search to tags only?

Thanks,
Rusty

No, you an only combine the NOT operator with the Quick Text Search as mD has suggested. For Tag or Advanced search you can AND everything, OR everything, or NOT everything, but you cannot just say “this and not that” (i.e., place the NOT in the middle of the query) That only works for text search.
