Thank's Grazie. You pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Been looking all over for a trial, demo, more info. Looks like we'll still have to wait a bit for a trial.

P.S. why the heck is my post italicized ???

Aye Laddie, aye . .. But I can hear it a wailing gently over far, far glen . . "Over the hills and far away!"
Grazie wrote on 4/24/2006, 3:14 PM

. .I put in an Itoaic in the title. Then I just removed it. I think you can "edit" my title .. maybe?

Anyway, having got rid of this, mine now looks correct - yeah?

Grazie . .

Looking over the brochure it looks very much like I imagined, SonicFire Pro with an Acid kick! In other words it appears you can get pre-arranged music that suit different occasions and then vary pitch, tempo, etc infinitely, and on mulitple tracks. Also like the idea of being able to visually mark places where you want the tempo or mood of the music to change.

Edit: everything looks normal now, no italic, but my first post still is. Thought maybe they were going to a new look, all replies Italic.

So is this going 'head-to-head' with the new version of Sonicfire Pro?
Spot|DSE wrote on 4/24/2006, 6:17 PM
here is a look at the interface, or parts of it.
Yes, it takes on the SonicFire product head to head. It does have some advantages, because of the audio background of the app, and it's more than only adding instruments to the mix, it also has some very sweet velocity scaling in the instruments, and some audio advantages in that reverb tails are never chopped, etc. You also have the familiarity of the interface. I'll try to get some vid up later this week.

Saw the demo today. Said it would be available for $199 MSRP.

Music sounded very good to me. The wave file could be then used with ACID as it has all the meta data needed. So you can tweak it with an extra guitar riff etc as you feel you need for punching things up.

The demo person said it should be shipping in a month. And of course additional "basis music" (my term) CD's will be available for the future.

Orcatek, Are you at NAB?

Stop by the HDXchange booth and Look for a guy with the name tag Dave Hadden - that would be me :)

Just curious, can you import Acid Pro music files into it? Is it of much use to musician types or is it targeted more towards non-music types who wish to have a little more flexibility in cutting music to video?

I'm tempted to drive over to Sherman Ave. tomorrow and begging for a copy.

I guess I'll just have to hurry up and wait :'(

A couple questions for the Sony guys...
1. Does it have Media Manager?
2. Can you put a Vegas project file on the timeline as the video source? (or just .avi?)
3. Can you put an Acid project file on the timeline as an audio source? (or just .wav etc.)

(wish I was there to do the askin'!)

Can't get the Video to load (cinescore_8minute.wmv) - or even locate it. Nothing happens.

Anyhow - looks like SonicFire/SmartSound somewhat in it's interface and layout, whihxc is ok. (Not saying it is a bad thing at all) I am a bit suprised there is no 5.1 option...or is there and they just aren't marketing it? Maybe a weird question - will this be able to work with any of the SonicFire/SmartSound disks?
MediaRob wrote on 4/25/2006, 7:30 AM
I didn't see the anything about 5.1 either but I'd image it could be a simple intermediate between arranging and bringing the audio back into vegas. Sort of the way Soundforge is intergraded into Vegas and Acid.

This stuff sounds great though. I was holding out on SonicFire because I didn't like some things about it so I'm glad to see Sony introducing an alternative that is more native to the Vegas platform.

I'm not a Sony guy, but....
No media manager in this rev, explorer is much like Vegas. I don't know that it would use a media manager, given the way the libraries are already managed, previewed, and laid out.
Only video on the timeline, not a veg file. Video, stills, etc. You can do rudimentary video editing on the timeline in Cinescore.
No 5.1 option. Additionally, .acd files cannot be dropped onto the timeline. This is much more designed for the "tone deaf" video editor. There is nothing "musical" about the interface other than tempo control. It does do pitch shift, but not like ACID or Vegas using keystrokes or auto-pitching. You can render to a file to place back on the Vegas timeline, but no direct Vegas interfacing in this version.
I ended up not sleeping much for playing with this app last night, it's exceptionally simple in its featureset and significantly more powerful than immediately noticeable. There are a few features that I wish were incorporated, but bear in mind it's also not a shipping product as of today, so it may well be that there are still some features to come. It's *clearly* aimed at a broader market than just Sony Software users though. This is something users of Premiere, Liquid, Avid Xpress, etc can use. Due to how it works overall, it's extremely fast, ridiculously simple for the complexity of compositions and options it offers, and the way the compositions work.
Sorry for the dead link, it should be functioning correctly now.

just curious if this is any good.. ie are the tunes/samplebank/presets etc.... i dotn particularly want to part with all my sound gear, but if its going to save me plenty of time then i can easily ditch my outboard gear on ebay.. BUT the question is... is the music cheesy?? LOL

Interesting piece of software especially after seeing and hearing DSE's "small wmv " : very nice indeed!

I read the specs and DSE comments and it appears that Cinescore does not accept mpeg video or veg files which means that complex video projects have to be rendered to an intermin format (avi,...) before it can be imported into Cinescore. Maybe this will be added in the released version.

Spot|DSE wrote on 4/25/2006, 10:13 AM
Cinescore DOES allow for MPEG to be placed on the timeline. Just tested it with both m2t and elementary streams.
ECB wrote on 4/25/2006, 10:15 AM
That's good. Sony should update their specs.

This is good news indeed, I almost bought SonicFire Pro 4, but with this product, I think I'm gonna wait until Cinescore comes out. The only downer I see right now is probably why it's limited to "16-bit, 44.1 kHz." I thought music should have a better fidelilty than other sound element in a video??
