Subject:Acid Pro 6 won't record midi using Ozonic

Acid Pro 6 won't record any midi using M-Audio Ozonic midi controller/Audio interface (as generic control device) and soft synths. Ozonic will play any of the soft synths but will not record any midi unless I connect an external keyboard to the midi in of Ozonic and selecting Ozonic External Midi Device as an input, which pretty much defeats the purpose of having a midi controller.

I can record audio with Ozonic and record midi with an external keyboard thru Ozonic, but cannot record midi just using Ozonic (as generic control device). I know it's not a hardware issue because I can record midi in my Propellerhead Reason 3 sequencer just using Ozonic.

Has any one else experience something similar?

You cannot use the Ozonic as both the generic control surface device and as a MIDI input device for MIDI input/recording.

When you assign a MIDI port for use as a control surface input, ACID marks the port as inuse and will not expose it as an input for MIDI recording.

We are looking at ways to permit devices to serve dual purpose as both an generic control device and general MIDI input simulataneously.

That explains it. I spent a whole day trying to figure out why it wouldn't work.

Well, thanks for your reply, Peter. At least now I know what's going on and if the engineers at Sony can resolve that issue it would be greatly appreciated.
