Is it possible to creatre a template to open a new project in ACID 6 with a set number of tracks, effects and synths?

I can do this in Sonar but can't see how this can be done in ACID. The reason I think this is useful is because I usually start a project using certain synths and FX. Now that we can load clips into any track I would like to open a new project with a set number of track, fx and synths ready to compose on and not have ACID open with a blank project.

You can create a new project with all the tracks and settings you want and save it as something like "My ACID Project start.acd". Then every time you want to start a new ACID project load this file and immediately Save As to some other name. Make it read-only to prevent overwriting it. Put a shortcut to this .acd file on your desktop and click it to start ACID instead of using the ACID shortcut.

That is a great idea!

I wrote a script to do this in Vegas. Please visit the Sony Product Suggestion page and suggest they add Scripting support to ACID so we can control things like this. There are lots of things that could be automated in ACID with scripts just like we can in Vegas and Sound Forge. Maybe ACID 7?

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll contact Sony and recommend scripting. We'll then have the option of third party programs to enhance the ACID workflow.

JR, on the scripting stuff...do you have any idea why they haven’t let users create scripts by recording keystrokes and mouse movements?

Would seem like it would make the whole scripting thing way, waaaay more accessible to the masses.

If I had to guess (and I do because I have no insider knowledge) I would say that this is impossible because everything you could do with a menu or mouse click would have to be scriptable and the script API is a small subset of the capabilities of the product (at least for Vegas)

We have been asking Sony to update the script API and add more functionality but it has gotten a back seat to other priorities. :( I agree that having a macro capability that recorded keystrokes and created scripts would be great for end users. But then it would put me out of business as a script writer. ;-)
