Subject:Using Sections - New or Reference Copy?

In Vegas, when Ctrl Drag is used to copy Generated Media such as Text, we are given the choice of New copy or Reference to the orginal media. If we choose Reference, any changes we make in the Copy also cause changes in the original, but if we choose New, any changes in the copy will affect the copy only.

Unless I've missed a detail, it seems that if we Ctrl Drag in Acid to Copy a Section, we automatically get a reference copy, so if we change a note or phrase in the Copy, the original changes too.

If it's not already possible, could future versions give us this choice - there are many times when a variation to a drum or other part is desirable in different verses etc.

Yes, I just noticed that. It seems once you copy a Section, you can then edit and and change up the audio files, but any MIDI data seems to be permanantly "linked" to the original section. An "Unlink" switch would be most convenient, in that case. Possibly, a right click, on the Section tab, with a menu item: Link/Unlink MIDI notes.

Cheers,

Billy Buck

P.S. I just put in a request for this feature @ the "Product Suggestion" page.
