Subject:Pro 6 : OPT plug-ins ?

I can't find a way to use third-party OPT plug-ins like GenieSys (NGK).
Is it still possible ? How ?

If not, why ? And what's the use of "MIDI Editors" in the track default properties ?

We removed support for this. No third party support.

The MIDI Editors appearin gon the default track props is a bug and will be addressed for the update.

OK.
But why did you remove the support for third party OPT ?

AFAIK, it's always better to keep at least the same features across versions, without any regressions.

OPT was supported by Yamaha. Yamaha now owns Steinberg.

Try to find support for Atrac3 on any other software but Sony's...

As I stated: No third party support.

The wide support/developement for OPT never materialized, so we made a choice to drop third party support.

Also, the editing model for MIDI in ACID changed.

This wont change for ACID 6.

This had nothing to do with it.

We support ASIO and VST, so by your logic, we would have dropped these also.

Yea, OPT was another great idea that never caught on. No one has written a new OPT editor since ACID 4. I can’t imagine loosing this is a big deal. Stolen Track is the only one I used regularly and it’s no longer needed because ACID 6 has this natively now so it doesn’t impact me at all. I understand wanting to maintaining functionality of previous releases but that also leads to bloatware because, like the Roach Motel, “functions check in… but they never check out” ;-)
