Subject:How do I get Meters on Tracks?

I only get meters when tracks are armed for record.
How do I get them to show up on playback tracks?

Kim.

I figured it out: There's an "internal" preference for this. Only works on audio tracks, midi...

Please keep in mind that the playback meters are post-clip gain and pre-volume. There is a reason they are not advertised and are hidden. They are not fully ready for prime-time yet and are still a work in progress. More than likely they will be fully functional, for ACID Pro 7 and be post volume.
So no need to be posting bug reports about why the meters are not responding to volume control changes. You use them at your own risk, otherwise don't activate them.
That being said, I still like having them, as I can see what my track level, pre-volume is, when I am mxing. You can still affect (adjust) the meters, by using a tracks clip "Gain" envelope.

Cheers,

Billy Buck

It was supposed to be "Only works on audio tracks, NOT midi..."

Why would this be an acid pro 7.0 feature? This should be addressed now not later.

why should it be addressed now? It's not part of Acid 6... It was left out for a reason. It's not fully functional. It's more just eye candy now. They aren't obligated to do anything with it until they feel like it.

Is that how it goes? They are not obligated to improve the software and implement an obviously planned feature?

Compared to other DAW's it's falling way short.

I purchased this upgrade and it has not met many of my expectations as of yet. Not having a vertical mixer hurts in such a bad way. This feels like Acid Pro 5.1 as opposed to Acid Pro 6.0.

How do you get to those "internal" preferences?

My email wasn't meant to be negative. Acid Pro 5 is a very solid application; so solid that it outperforms pro 6. Pro 6 needs to mateur a bit.

Pro 6 needs a vertical mixer view like nuendo, cubase, fruityloops, audition, logic and digital performer.

Hopefully we'll see some major overhauls; It's definitley wiser to wait and see before you upgrade.

I would highly recommend to all not to mess with internal preference settings. These settings are intended for Sony internal use only. We need Sony to focus on solving real bugs with the published functionality. If too many folk are messing with internal settings and reporting problems it could be a real distraction to Sony in diagnosing and fixing the real issues.

Cheers,

Randy

"Pro 6 needs a vertical mixer view like nuendo, cubase, fruityloops, audition, logic and digital performer."---

I don't agree. Acid does need to mature a bit true. But I would rather them put their limited "time and resources" to a freeze function/invert track phase switch/ALL of vegas's trademark editing goodness/etc...

We have the Mackie MCU support finally but no Mackie C4 support yet...

I would personlly want this before anything else.

I have no intention of reporting problems arising from tweaking hidden/unsuported prefs. I am a beta tester for another company's software (not audio related) and I know what the risks are and what kind of reports developers need to fix real problems. I'm not going to waste Sony's time.

I'm usually good at finding that kind of stuff but I've looked around on my system and couldn't find anything. If you know how to get to those internal prefs I'd appreciate the pointer.

You can search the forums and find it. I'd like it to remain widely unknown :-)

Me too, I can see the bug reports now! "Why won't my ACID Pro start?
"It was working fine until after I got the track meters working!"
What other "internal preferences" did you start messing with.
What a mess!
