Subject:I am having real issues with version 6

Here is a list of the issues I have posted just in the last few days. Any help would be appreciated. I did today just un-install version 5 in case that was causing any of the issues. Here they are:

1. Strange hangs and crashes: When recording, I often will delete the take and re-record. When doing this, sometimes acid will do one of the following:
A. start to record a some tempo faster than original with pops and clicks occuring (as if wrong sample rate was selected).
B. Crash completely with no error.
C. Crash providing an error message and memory dump.

Also, on another occasion, I will add a WizooVerb2 VST plugin in a track and Acid will crash. This in fact is consistent and reproducable (at least yesterday it was).

2. No sound output on start up: I have the EMU1212m. When I start Acid (and sometimes when i just continue playback after editing or drawing waveforms on a track) no sound will come out of the sound card. The sound meters will register levels as normal, but no sound. To remedy, I have to go into preferences -> audio devices and switch from the EMU ASIO driver to the Microsoft Sound Mapper, then press apply, then switch back to the EMU driver and press apply. I then exit the preferences menu and the sound now comes out of the audio card. Good workaround, but it certainly saps the creative process every time I have to do this (which is about 3 times per hour it seems). More examples of similar behavior. After I do the above mentioned workaround, I recently pressed record, the curser advanced, the track showed recording a blank audio file, and no sound came out of the sound card however all the level meters were indicating sound playback. This occured after a fresh reboot of the application due to another error (reported in another trouble ticket).

3. Hangs - "non-responding application" : I added a new track, selected an audio channel other than the default input, press track arm button and the application froze. Says Not Responding in the title bar. Also, Was recording multiple clips to a track. Went back to cycle through them and upon selecting one to review AcidPro6 stopped responding.

4. Inserting a tempo change causes a glitch in audio regardless of which audio track is enabled. I tried disabling certain tracks and fading out audio on all tracks with no change. After doing this test, I got an exception error and memory dump upon crash.

5. I just finished recording audio, went to add in a WizooVerb2 reverb plug in. Once added the plug in interface for WizooVerb2 did not show up on the child window as normal. Acidpro is not responding when I try to close the effect insert window. Eventually after a minute the complete application disappears.... no error... no nothin. Just gone. I will reboot after this since I don't trust the current environment.

Keep in mind I am really testing the hell out of the DAW capabilities. Also, I love this new version - the workflow, the metering, the ease of editing. Great job on this release product team! Now lets just work out the bugs quickly please.

Well, the EMU ASIO driver is a piece of garbage in my experience, so you can't really blame Sony for that. Use ASIO4ALL with the EMU Wave driver and you will get much better results.

Cheers,

Randy

Here I'm working with an EMU0404.

I solved the sound problem creating a new strip in PatchMix (ASIO OUT 1/2) and assigning this output in AcidPro 6 ASIO output.

ASIO for all loaded easily. So far, I have not experienced the previous issues but my testing has been limited.

on the other hand, I seem to get random clicks and pops when idle. Also, it will not show all the interfaced on my 1212m audio card.

Nice to have an option when the going gets rough. THanks for the reference to ASIO4All.
