Hey guys I'm not sure if any of you use this product but here is a link to the site. I own Izotope ozone/trash/spectron so I can say that their quality and support so far has been awesome. PP I think has found a good home. http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/phatmatik/audio.html# Anyone own this already could give a quick review of it? Comments? Later. Ed. I have Phatmatic Pro and for a while absolutely loved it. The biggest problem with PP is that the old developer didn't have the money to licence Rex 2 file importing. Maybe they'll be able to do that now. On the other hand, one of my favorite new Acid 6 features is it's ability to embed Rex 2 type non-looping segment beat-slicing into Acid loops. With this ability built into Acid 6, the need for PP is really nil. |

Woo Hoo! I just downloaded and installed the new Izotope version of Phatmatik Pro and now it supports REX 2 files! It works absolutely wonderfully well in Acid 6 as well. As you drag the beat-sliced midi files to the timeline, they automatically loop so that you can use them very similarly to Acid loops. This is great news as it lets Acid 6 users work with both Acid loops and REX files with equal ease! Message last edited on4/26/2006 10:16:37 AM byLaurence. |

I also got a discount email on purchasing PP for only $99. I'm getting it right away. AP 6+PP is a seriously powerfull combo. Ed. BTW...Izotope is still taking feature requests for the upcoming upgrades to their current lineup. So if you want a feature in Ozone 4/Trash 2/Spectron 2 email them asap. With the new loop defining tools of Acid 6 there is not too much advantage to using REX 2 loops compared to regular Acid loops if you are creating or defining loops from scratch. However, if you have some nice sounding REX 2 loops alread, Phatmatik Pro is a really easy way to add them to an Acid 6 song. |

Thanks for the info. Could you write some more stuff on pros/cons of PP? What would you like to see added in a 2.0 version? Which rex 2 loops do you think are "nice sounding"? Ed. |

I've just been playing a little and Acid and Phatmatik Pro work even better together than I first thought. The cool thing about working with the midi file instead of the audio directly is that you can easily generate a bunch of alternate patterns out of one loop. This really helps keep the energy of a good loop you find but keeps it from being too monotonous. What's really cool in Acid 6 is that you can can copy the midi to a new clip, edit the generated midi clip and still have the original. That way you can generate a number of alternate midi triggered loops and switch between them with the "c" key and paint these variations anywhere you want! Boy is that cool! |
