Hey... I have Mick Fleetwood's drum CD. Pretty great. I need others. Anyone have suggestions for really good ones?

Thanks!

Rick

SmartLoops Pro Drum Works Volume One & Two. These are extremely well organized and have a great selection of beats.

Nice sounding stuff. Relatively pricey compared to the rest. (SmartLoops)

This is a case of you get what you pay for. These loops extremely useful (we all have disc of useless loops) and are laid out on the disc by style and then by 8ths, 16ths, Floor, Open, Ride, etc. These folders are the way the loop is played (i.e., 8th note hi-hat, 16th note hi-hat, ride cymbal, etc.) Then the loops are named Basic 8ths 01, 02, 03 etc. If you like loop Basic 8th 17.wav but you want your chorus to use a ride cymbal, you simply load Basic Ride 17.wav and it’s the exact same beat only using the ride cymbal. Likewise Basic 16ths 17.wav is the same beat using 16th note hi-hat. This makes it extremely easy to get variations on a beat without a lot of searching around. It’s a brilliant system (and the loops sound awesome too)

Hey jr,

I really prefer to use already constructed grooves, where possible. Saves a lot of time. I can always add accents, or, as I've had good luck with, use two grooves one on top of the other. That can give good results.

So, are these all one-shots? Or are there a lot of useable grooves, too?

thx,

Rick

They are predominantly grooves. There are one shots but that’s only one folder. They’ve got a variety of basic and funk grooves, reggae, then groves in cut-time, double-bass, side-stick, train, etc. The set is 2 DVD’s and includes three drum kits Acoustic, Thunder, and Trap.

They are really not that expensive. Sony is currently charging $70 for their premium sets that contain about 1000 loops. So, you would pay $140 for 2000 loops at Sony. These are 3000 unique loops for $149. The total set is actually 9000 loops (3000 for each of three kits) on 2 DVD’s.

WAIT! I just checked their web site and they are selling the kits separately. So you can buy the Acoustic kit of volumes I & II (1.84GB download!) for only $89. That’s a great deal for 6000+ loops. Or you can get just the Acoustic Kit for Volume I for $49. (wow, that’s the one I use the most)

I only use the Acoustic Kit out of the series because the Thunder Kit is the same loops with EQ, Compression and Reverb. I can add that myself. The deal for $49 or $89 seems like the best bang for the buck.
