Hey everybody. I am thinking of saving up some pennies and getting a PowerCore, 'cause I love the quality of TC verbs, etc. My question/concern is which would be better the Firewire or the PCI? I am leaning towards the Firewire b/c I travel and well.....it's portable. I guess I am just wondering if anybody has experience with both units and can chime in on any performance differences and are they significant enough to reconsider my plan. Thanks, luces

Hey luces1...

First off bookmark this forum...

http://www.powercore.noheaven.com/

and...

http://www.tcelectronic.com/

This will be a great start for your questions about powercore.

Secondly I would go firewire without a question. Like yourself I'm putting money aside for a powercore unit. As newer motherboards come out they have less and less pci/pcie slots. The future is usb/firewire. For audio firewire is the way to go. I've read on the forums that people have had less problems with the powercore FW than the pci card. Make sure your motherboard has a texas instrument chipset for FW or you will have problems.

Again go to the tc forum and you'll see the thread of "working powercore setups" for a good head start. They made it a "sticky" so its easy to find.

I use a PoCo FW with my laptop. It's the first in a chain with a Glyph FW external dirve for samples and such. Works quite well as long as I up the latency if I know I'm going to be changing parameters in any plug-in used in Acid 5 (just ordered 6). If I don't up the latency sync loss between the computer and the PoCo occurs. Elsewise, it works great and sounds great.
