how come if i do a pitch shift in clip properties (by piano roll editor) it will not effect the pitch played back in the project.. but if i use the little play button down in clip properties it will play correctly... i even have tried resaving the MID file, then painting the same midi file back in the project with the pitch chnage in effect.. but will not work.. i can change pitch using it with automation envolopes but that is it.... i am working between acid 6 and sonar 4.... does this make any sense?? thanks pj |

I am not following you. How are you changing the pitch? Peter |

this is for MIDI only...if i highlight the midi track in the project ablove, and then click CLIP PROPTERTIES.. and goto piano roll editor.. then chose pitch bend down there... and draw in my bends... when i play back in the project above it does not come through.. only when i play it in the clip properties menu below do i hear the changes made.. i know i can go around this by using the PITCH BEND on the track itself, and draw in pitch envolopes... but i dont want to do it this way.... not for this project... hope that makes sense... pj |

All main time line CC and PitchBend control is through envelopes only. That is, if there is no envelope, then no CC or other controller data is produced regardless of what the clip contains. They are not automatically linked to what is in the clip data. Only note data is automatically linked between the track and clip editors. So, Pitch bend and CC messages changes you make in the properties Piano Roll do not automatically reflect on the main time line. You must "merge" these changes to the main time line. You right click on the Track Level event and select "Create Envelope from Clips" This is how it works. The clip properties Piano Roll and List Editor are not intended as the primary editing interface. They are more of a scratch pad. That said, we are looking at ways to make the link between a clips CC and PB data linked with out the manual step of having to merge in the data from the clip.
