Subject:AP6: What's Wrong with MIDI Import?

Although I have been able to drag a number of different midi files into a project, I have also come across a number of others that simply won't import. They will play in the preview, but when you drag them into the timeline, nothing happens.

Just to make sure it wasn't the midi files, I went back to AP5, and the files will import OK. I tried saving the midi file under a different file name using AP5 and they still won't import in AP6. However, if I open the project I created in AP5 using AP6 the midi files work just fine.

Yeah, I'm getting something similar (identical?). I try to drag a midi file into the timeline and it creates a blank folder track.

What did you use to create that midi file?

i had a similar issue opening AP4 projects. Some of the midi files would open, others would show up blank. I went back to AP4, re-saved the file with "copy files" checked and then the project opened fine in AP6. AP6 couldn't look up some of the referenced files I guess.

Found the cause - it is really stupid.

The files you sent me have parenthesis in the name - i.e.

foobar (sonar 5).mid

For some reason - a bug - the parenthesis in the file name is causing ACID to not import these files.

The work around until the update is released (no, I don't know when this will be) is to rename to

foobar - sonar 5.mid

or something with out parenthesis.
