Subject:Beatmapper Enhancements

Thinking more about how I might import long tracks into Acid for beatmatching I am thinking there are essentially two approaches:

1) Import the track as a one-shot and set tempo changes to follow it.
2) Chop of the track into segments that will fit into an existing tempo.

Both of these can by accomplished in Acid 6.0 with a bit of work. However, the only real work I care to do is to define the segments, after that I would like to see the remaining work automated.

Beatmapper seems the ideal place from which to perform these tasks. If Beatmapper could be enhanced to allow an option where beat markers could be independently adjusted, like Live's warp markers, then once the markers are set you could insert it into the track with options like "Beatmap to track tempo", or "Modify track tempo to follow beatmap", depending on whether one wants the clip to warp to the existing tempo, or have the clip remain unwarped and have the project tempo changes driven from beat markers.

I also get the feeling that somehow the functions of both Beatmapper and Chopper could be consilidated into a single SuperChopper that would do all this, thereby simplifying the Acid interface somewhat.

Just a few ideas for Acid 7.0.

Cheers,

Randy
