I am looking to purchase a multi input sound card. 2 or more inputs. Looking for suggestions. My budget is $100 - $200. One that will work well with Acid Pro 6. M-Audio Delta 44 looks ok. Anything else? Thanks |

The Delta 44 is a great choice. My Echo MiaMIDI has been a good little workhorse (2 1/4" TRS I/O, S/PDIF I/O and MIDI I/O). Just about any pro-level audio interface (especially if it's PCI-based) will serve you well. Answered my own question. Yes, it give 1 mic, 1 guitar, and 1 stereo input that can be recorded on different tracks at the same time. I am going to give it a try and will report back how well it works with Acid Pro 6. |

Be careful with USB interfaces, especially USB 1.1 interfaces. They can be finicky. Iacobus |

If you are going with a TonePort consider spending a few extra bucks and getting the UX2 instead, of the UX1. Most places can get you one for around $199. The extra pro features make the UX2, a better value, for the extra 60 bucks, IMO: 1) Source assignable stereo VU meters with clip LED's 2) S/PDIF Output 3) Separate headphone/output control 4) 2 Mic inputs (instead of one) 5)+48v Phantom Power 6) 2 Instrument inputs (instead of one) 7) Instrument Pad (for high gain outputs) 8) Footswitch Jacks send MIDI commands to recording programs (start/stop, punch in/out, etc.) You may want to check out my in-depth review, of the UX2: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=642117&mpage=1&key= Cheers, Billy Buck P.S. The TonePort works very well with all the Sony apps, Vegas, Sound Forge, ACID & CD Architect. The ASIO drivers can easily get down to 128 samples (2.9msec) while using ACID Pro 6, for low latency work, and are very stable, as well. |

mD Does that mean that the TonePort is USB 1.1? I could not tell from the Docs on Line 6's site. |

If you're looking at M-Audio cards, you may want to take a look at the Delta 1010LT. Its a 10 in - 10 out PCI card that I've been using with Vegas/Acid/SF for quite a while now. It's a great card, a lot of bang for the buck and the driver is rock solid. You can get one on line for around $199 or so. canum |

mD Does that mean that the TonePort is USB 1.1? I could not tell from the Docs on Line 6's site. It looks that way. I tried downloading a manual for specs, but they want you to create an account to do so. (What's up with that? I'd hate to want to do some research and come across this because it would instantly kill my interest.) The only caveats for using a USB 1.1 are to make sure that you have a dedicated USB controller with no other USB devices connected...just in case. USB 1.1 only has so much bandwidth (12 Mbps max). You don't want to crowd the USB traffic if you have several USB devices connected. Also, Using 24-bit/44.1 KHz will probably work just fine, but it gets more complicated when using 96 KHz (for the same reasons you don't want many USB devices on the same USB controller). (The site also refers to "sample rate conversion for simultaneous input and output" when using 96 KHz. I'm always weary when I see something like this.) Can the UX1 or UX2 be independently powered? (i.e., not powered via USB.) I don't see an AC jack on the units. I was thinking you could use the UX1 or UX2 as a standalone interface, but not if it can't be independently powered. Iacobus |
