Subject:Tempo Markers Affect One-shot Volume?

I was experimenting with some beatmatching against a song represented as a one-shot event in a track.

I noticed that when I added tempo markers to the project there seemed to be a quick fade-out/fade-in added to all tracks at the point where I add each tempo marker.

Is this normal? Why should tempo markers affect the sound of my one-shot event?

Thanks,

Randy

?

I just tried repro'ing; nothing gets added as far as quick fades are concerned when tempo markers are inserted.

I noticed this too and was wondering why...

I had guessed that it was to prevent clicking when the tempo changes, but that shouldn't affect one-shots at all since they're not speed-adjusted.

Hmmm. Okay I'll double-check this again tonight. I thought I was hearing a glitch and it was definitely drawing what looked like a fade-out curve immediately followed by a fade-in curve on every track at each tempo marker location. Acid Pro 6.0, by the way.

Thanks,

Randy

Is there something magical you guys aren't telling me about? :) I can't get the quick fades to appear during a tempo change.

Using Acid Pro 6.0:

1) Place a one-shot into a track.
2) Position the play cursor within the one-shot and press "T" to add a tempo marker.
3) Zoom in on the one-shot wave form and see what looks like fade-in/fade-out at the tempo marker location.

This is what i was seeing last night but I'll try reproing again when I get home to be sure I wasn't dreaming.

Thanks, Randy. This is indeed a bug.

The quickfades are necessary for Loop & Beatmap events intersected by tempo changes (in order to prevent clicking), but they should not be there in the Oneshot case.

Iacobus,
I can think of two reasons you might not be seeing these quickfades -- either you're not zoomed in far enough (by default the fades are only 10ms), or the Tempo Change marker that you're looking at has the same tempo/key as the preceding marker (we only insert the quickfades if we need them -- e.g. if the tempo or key has actually changed).

We'll have this fixed for the update.

Thanks,
Frank Shotwell.

Ahh, OK. All I did was just insert a tempo marker without any tempo change. If you change the tempo with the marker, then the quick fade appears.

I see this too. The tempo marker actually appears after the fade back in so that is why I hear a glitch (or scratchy sound).
