Can reproduce with the 1820 and current drivers (same problem as usual for creatives drivers) the mixer app doesn't seem to want to reset its channels to the new config

reset acid asio config and then map the 404 mixer from there and you should be getting play from it

Yes I can confirm this also with 0404. No sound upon opening ACID 6 so change driver and then revert back to E-MU driver and sound returns. Looks like E-MU need to update their driver?

Looks like it - sad to say. They seem to write their drivers for "just barely support" and not try to take much else into account.

I use the 1820 M and I have had that problem since v.5.a.

Normally i I leave both acid and patcmix window open and everytime there´s no sound i simply click on the patchmix window (change program), - go back to acid and the sound is back... hope it works for u2 and i´ve complained about this before.

I have an EMU 0404 and I have never been able to get the ASIO driver to work consistently with Vegas 6 either. I suspect there is a subtle bug in the Emu ASIO driver and the Sony apps are not very forgiving.

Cheers,

Randy

Yes, but I have to do this every time I execute AcidPro6

For what it’s worth, this is one of the primary reason’s a ditched my Creative Audigy 2 Platinum card. I had to continuously reselect the ASIO drivers in Vegas and ACID. They were some of the buggiest drivers I have ever encountered. EMU is owned by Creative. I suspect the same programmers are writing the buggy EMU drivers.

I wouldn’t buy anything from Creative or EMU (and EMU use to be such a great company). You might consider getting a card from Echo or M-Audio instead. Just my 2 cents. I know it’s not what you want to hear but it solved my audio problems quickly. I use an M-Audio FW410 now and everything just works.

The 404/1820 etc are Audigy 2 cards Johnny..Just with variably better dacs on the front end of some and lower on others. A few extra in/out options and not alot else

God awful what E-MU has been reduced to, but some of us still hold out that they'll buy themselves back from creative and get back on track

Thank you, John.

Thanks God I own an Edirol PCR-1 Midi Keyboard Controller/Audio Interface with ASIO drivers.

All is fine, now.

Thank you again.

Regards,

Miquel.

I've had good luck with Acid 6 and the Audigy 2 Platinum Pro card using the ASIO4ALL driver. In fact this will probably get you running at low latency no matter what soundcard you use, even the built in audio on your motherboard. It's free and it's at asio4all.com.

You might try the alternative Kx Project drivers that were created exclusively for Creative cards. I have never tried Asio4All but I've read many reports that the Kx drivers work better plus they give you the finest control possible over your card's operation through its DSP applet. Take a look here for the latest release:

Acording to the KX Project website the KX driver doesn't support the E-MU 0404 etc. cards just yet.

This is an old and very tiresome problem that I spent over a year trying to get someone from both Sony and Emu to straighten out. I thought it was in the past but now it appears to be here again.

I spent a lot of time communicating with both Sony and Emu support asking for help and got all kinds of excuses. Waiting a year for driver and software updates seems excessive to me. I was told in the past that Emu and Sony were now talking. I would like to see evidence of this this time around. If I have to wait a year for this to be addressed I will be truly upset.

Shame on me for just ordering the Acid 6 upgrade. I should have been more circumspect.

Spectralis,

Make sure you post in the forum to ask if the new 3538j version supports it or not. The info on the web site is for the much older 3537 release and is quite outdated by now.

This might be better off where it belongs..in the EMU forum, where their people can take the heat for bungling their drivers and support mixer. Might even provoke them out of their stupor to try to fix their mixer once and for all

Just a thought

Good deal,
Now, hopefully they'll wake up or at least snort another line and take a look at it before they fall back to sleep..

We can only hope

I also emailed Emu Support. A lot of good it will do! I can predict their response:

We've never heard of Sony!
We've never heard of Acid so we can't test!
We can't possibly test all the third party software [what we mean is we can only be bothered to test with one software app - Cubase]
We work with Cubase.
Case closed.

One nice thing about the ASIO4ALL driver is that it doesn't conflict with the Creative Labs one. You can have them both installed and choose between them. Actually the Audigy Pro Platinum Pro works pretty well with Acid 6. My only issue is that you can't direct monitor your recorded audio through the Creative Labs mixer app. On the other hand, you can't do that with Sonar either so it is definately a Creative Labs problem. I can however monitor through Acid with pretty low latency (about 5ms without clicks and pops, down to 2ms with the occasional click and pop). I've been using ASIO4ALL however in order to get zero latency when I'm recording guitar parts by monitoring through the Creative Labs mixer rather than through ASIO echoing. Somehow, I can deal with 10ms latency on keyboards and hardly notice it and yet even 2ms latency on guitar drives me a little mad!

I just got the following response from EMU. "Mahtazz" et al can you supply details to Emu support? It would appear that they think everything is peachy!

Dear Valued E-MU Customer;

Sony and E-MU have verified that Acid Pro 6 does work with E-MU hardware
and software. Please state what your specific problem you are having
today, your full computer specs, what E-MU hardware product you are
referring to, what version of drivers and PatchMix you are running. We
just checked again for the last hour running ACID PRO 6 including
closing and reopening dozens of times, recording and playback without
any noticed problems.

Dear Miquel,

Have you checked this problem with Sony Media as the program should default to your E-MU soundcard driver everytime.

Maybe try uninstall and reinstall the application and see if this helps.

Do you get the problem with any other applications?

You could check also that you have the latest drivers for your soundcard from the website below.

Hi guys,

Please, try to append new strip in Emu Patchmix. It creates an ASIO Out 1/2.

Edit Acid Pro 6 Audio preferences to this ASIO OUT 1/2 instead ASIO Out.

Here no sound problem has gone for me.

Tell me if this runs for you too.
