Subject:Midi track question from real newbie ...

I'm already familiar with making music beds in Acid from loops and samples. But I've never done midi in any way shape or form and I have no external keyboard. What I want to do is create a melody midi track and "paint" or draw notes inside the program step by step and then assign an instrument to the notes (sorry, don't know the midi terminology) so that I can afterwards duplicate the melody midi track and each track will have a different instrument playing them at the same time. Am I saying this right? Can or should it be done this way and can Acid Pro or Music Studio do this?

One other question is that Acid Music Studio 6 seems to have come out with Acid Pro 5. Does this mean there will likely be an Acid Studio 7 with the release of Acid Pro 6? Thanks for any input.

What you want to do is insert a MIDI track and the open the properties and use the Piano Roll Editor to paint the notes where you want them. This will do what you want and works in both the Music Studio and Pro versions.
