hey... this isn't to celebrate the release of 6.0d... it was up days ago. :D (yes, I'm nosy!)

And to be clear for everyone...

"entries will no longer be taken after midnight, March 31"

I assume 2006.

Again:
"entries will no longer be taken after midnight, March 31"

Spot doesn't need anymore headaches over this, I gather.

Please read the detailed rules:

obiviously. it says "2006" two times before that line in the same paragraph.
Chienworks wrote on 2/17/2006, 5:26 AM
And, just so there's no last minute panic, assume that "midnight" means the beginning of the day, not the end. Based on previous deadlines i would assume that March 30th is probably the last day that entries are accepted.

Hey, even if i'm wrong, it doesn't hurt to be a day early. :) Besides, "midnight" is defined by their timezone, not yours. Depending on where you are that could vary quite a bit from your local midnight. Shooting for a day early avoids that headache.

Quote from Webster Dictionary (and many others)

Mid´night`
n. 1. The middle of the night; twelve o'clock at night.

a. 1. Being in, or characteristic of, the middle of the night; as, midnight studies; midnight gloom.

End of Quote

Or in other words: 23:59:59 + 1 second. :~)

Hmmm. I don't see how that definition decides beginning vs. end.

That's probably why most insurance policies specify an expiration time of 12:01am, so that there's no confusion that they mean the start of the day.

Well night follows day and the chicken follows the egg and the first day of the week is Monday and the Millennium was celebrated 12 months too soon.

I usually go to bed at the end of the day and don't wake up until the day after but if it's been a long day I may go to bed in the morning and wake up later that day and feel cheated.

So yes, posting a day early is good advice, unless you live in Australia then you'll need to post 2 days early. This of course means that the Ozzies are penalised because they have a day less than most in which to create their entry.

And BST starts on 26th March so we lose an hour of creativity then and I heard that DSE's is planning a closing date of 29th February in 2007.

If you reverse the supply polarity of a light bulb do you get black light?

And one more thing, Did you know Ken Dodd's dad's dog's dead?

Ahhh, roll on midnight, I'm feeling sleepy!

What is the attraction of MPEG 4?
Still using .wmv for web video even after the Vegas 6.0d upgrade.
Good quality at a smaller file size.
But maybe that application is too narrow to understand the benefits.
Still, I'm up for the contest.
Thanks for the initiative Spot!
Your a catalyst and I'm catalized!

Was this contest cancelled? I don't see it on the Vasst site anymore.
Orcatek wrote on 3/28/2006, 5:23 PM
My question too, I was just wrapping up my entry and was going to double check requirements and it was gone.

fldave wrote on 3/28/2006, 6:39 PM
Noticed it was gone last week. Sorry, no time to create an entry, though I had the perfect idea, just no time due to my day job.

Hopefully just postponed for a few months :)
Spot|DSE wrote on 3/28/2006, 6:58 PM
The contest had to be moved due to a request from one of the sponsors, but we'll be replacing it. If you've submitted an entry, you'll be contacted shortly. Apologies to anyone inconvenienced.
We'll have the "contest of contests" to announce at NAB, but nothing I can hint at right now. Suffice it to say it *could* possibly make a significant difference in your life if you win....;-)
