Subject:Storing loops on HD

I've just installed Acid Music Studio and I'm trying to figure out where I should put the loops and content that came with it. Does it make any difference where they're stored?

If you have a second hard drive in your computer you'll get somewhat slightly better playback performance if you store them somewhere NOT on your Windows boot drive. Other than that, all that matters is that you put them somewhere where you can find them.

Mine defaulted to My Documents. I reget that I did not change it. Now my main drive is almost full. The wav files take a lot of space. I have 25 gig and that's about half of my drive. Putting somewhere other than your main partition would be a good idea. It is hard to move the files after you save the acid project. I am hoping Acid 6 will have a better way to move projects. Good Luck.

Thanks for the tip. Luckily I redirected the location of My Documents to my second hard drive when I installed it. It freed up a load of space on my system drive.

External USB drives are cheap these days - I bought one strictly to store my loops and other sound libraries. Cool thing is, I can take my entire loop library to a different machine with ACID, and as long as I map it to the same drive letter, my projects all work just fine.

Worth looking into if you have a main machine & a laptop that both have ACID on them, or if you use ACID at a different location.

Performance is fine as long as your'e using a 7200 RPM drive with a USB 2.0 interface.
