Me Too!
I noticed Sweetwater.com had it listed for $250. It talked about Acid Pro 6 but showed Acid Pro 5 picture. I sent them email about it. They did not reply, but changed the name and discreption to Acid Pro 5.

I'd bet it'll be in Frankfurt Musikmesse 29.03.-01.04.2006

Bump! It is killin me too, but I think they are probably working out the bugs. I would rather wait another month if that meant less bugs and less upgrade fixlets.

Too many companies in both hard and software rush product to the shelves without the final polishing process.

I haven't upgraded since 2.0 cause I felt they where not addressing all the great feature it could have. With each new upgrade I researched nothing was that great that justified an extra $149. Its a good thing cause I'd be $450 in the hole by upgrading 2-3-4-5.

6.0 is going to change my studio and the way I work 180. Within the first week of owning it, I hope to be removing Cakewalk and Adobe Audition (formally Cool Edit Pro) from the hard drive. :)

I hope they surprise us with a release on Mon. Give us a little treat seeing as we've been very good and praised the specs of v6 to high heaven. You know it makes sense Sony ;)

As for post release bugs I expect a few with any new release so that doesn't bother me. I just want to get my hands on it in case I have a cash flow problem, my ISP goes bust or the world blows up.

it's wierd, in this forum for ACID people are excited about the program and seem to enjoy ACID. Over in the Sound Forge forum, people seem to dislike Sound Forge and are tired of SONY all around.

little guy, look through some posts in the ACID forum around a year to two years ago. You'll find lots of folks were pretty tired of SONY then. ACID 5 promised a lot and that started getting people excited. From all the news floating around it looks like ACID 6 is going to deliver and the excitement is really picking up.

From what i've seen posted i would guess version 6 will probably be released early in April.

I bought Acid 3.0, 4.0 then tried 5.0. Every release was too buggy for pro work. I tried to come here in this forum, to either ask for or just lurk around to see if I could find some solutions to my issues but always the same results "your hardware is at fault, "Acid works fine on my machine...etc." I tried installing on four different machines, I'm also A+ certified so I do have a clue on hardware and chip architecture. Anyway many people have moved on to other hosts since. I gave Ableton Live 5 a try and bought it the same day. Best thing I have ever done. If you like Acid, give Live a try...you will love this app. For me its strike three, Sony's out....

...just my two cents

I think this forum is generally positive because most of the critics left after the disappointment with version 4 followed by the fiasco of version 5. People will only wait so long. Check the regular posters then and now....

This is an official Sony Acid Forum but I do not read posts from Sony people. Anybody knows why? This is very strange to me.

While it officially is run by Sony, it is NOT their "official" support. If you go to the main Sony Forums page the first sentence states:

The Sony Media Software discussion forum is a peer support area where you can share tips and advice with other Sony Media Software product users. We monitor these boards periodically. However, if you require immediate technical support, please choose from the options on our Support Home Page.

Their emphasis on immediate technical support. So this forum is for us peers to support each other and not an official support vehicle for Sony. I’m sure the Sony people are very busy getting ACID Pro 6 out the door.

I have to say that SoundForge isn't very well spec'd compared to Wavelab and Audition. Granted Wavelab cost a lot more but I was very underwhelmed when SF 8 was released.

It appears that Sony have put a lot of work into ACID 6 but, in the past, their upgrades haven't been as feature rich as other dev's. They've been criticised because of this and rightly so IMO.

If Sony want to compete at the same level as the competition then they need to realise that customers expect value for money as well as cutting edge features comparable to the competition. Why would we put up with anything less?

Don't feel hurt bud! Live 5 is awesome, try it yourself. Anyway I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with you here. As for checking out this forum well, I check many audio forums for my own interest. Now get over it, will ya!

I understand, but it would be nice that at least one of Sony's technicians could be near us.

Just a wish.

You must have a lot of time on your hands to check out a forum for a product you don't use and will never use! Why not spend it making music?

For the record, I use Acid pro 5.0 professionally. I have recently checked out the demo of Live 5 and am impressed with some of the things they have added. I still find the interface confusing though, and can't really justify the time to get through the learning curve. What clinched it for me though was that my first three sessions with the demo all eventually ended with an application crash after about 20 minutes. Maybe I could get it stable with a bit of work - I won't diss the app after a one hour test - but perhaps you could be a bit less dogmatic with your posts?

You know Dabb, I tried Live and could not get past the interface. It is not at all like the flow I am used to (Pro Tools, Acid). So, I just really didn't like it. Yet, I did not head on over to the Live forums to post how much I tried to get it to work, or how useless the forum is. To me, you are a troll, plain and simple. I get a lot of great info from this site, I came in this thread to see when the release date might be, not listen to your live testimony. Go away

Learning a new host is just so much effort. I moved to Sonar probably a year or so ago now and I'm still not really that good on it. I know enough to geta round, get the job done, and deliver what's required, but I always feel there is probably a better way to do it that I just don;t know yet.

Acid was just so darn obvious ! Which is why I've trotted back here and am standing in this line chatting while waiting for AP6 to drop :-)

I must agree.

I've purchased several hosts during last year and now I'm waiting for AP6 release to purchase it, too.

AP6 will be the last host I'll purchase. I swear.

Just found this:
Sony Acid Pro 6 will be released on April 3, 2006. Order it now and amazon will ship it to you once it's available.

Sweetwater did respond:
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We've corrected it so that
the description on our site is for version 5. We're still not sure
exactly when version 6 will arrive or what kind of upgrade or grace period
Sony will offer.
But....
I just got the Sweetwater Catalog and it says:
Acid Pro 6 List $399.99 Our Price $249.97.
Interesting.

Search the Acid Knowledge Base for "upgrade" and you'll find that Sony will give you a free upgrade to AP 6 if you buy/bought AP 5 between March 3rd and May 3rd 2006. Either download AP 6 when it's available or wait for Sony to send you a boxed copy.

SWEETWATER are a bunch of hosers. They listed the Kontakt Tutorial DVD in December. They swore they were getting some in in January and were preselling. So I called Native Instruments and the actual release date was mid-end of March. So I didn't prepay. I put my name on the wait list at $39
Then I called back in MidMarch to place the order. They said my ticket had dropped out of the system, the product was still not in and now the price was $49. No matter that I thought I had locked in the $39 price in January.

What were they doing making people prepay a product that could not ship for another 2-3 months? You usually place your order on out of stock product and then they dont charge your card until the product ships.

They're probably doing the same thing with Acid 6 = don't pay them until the product is released!!!!

I had a similar problem with SWEETWATER so this isn’t the first time they’ve done this. I order my Frontier Designs Tranzport from them because they were the only merchant that showed the mic stand mount and case as being IN-STOCK! After my order was placed the two accessories were immediately placed on backorder. They immediately contacted me to let me know that they hadn’t even been released yet from Frontier Designs and it would be a month or more until their release. I wasn’t a happy customer but they did follow up with a phone call as each item was released to give me a status. Their customer service is excellent but their web site inventory system leaves a bit to be desired.

I continue to order from them and I have even called them and gotten them to match prices of other merchants so I still do shop there but you should really call first to make sure that have what their web site says it has. You will be very impressed by their customer service. Top notch.
