Any of you create lower thirds in vegas?

I am creating some ...these are more personalised than can be had ready made e.g. via VASST's Ultimate S series.or through digital juice, etc....Anyway I enjoy this bit!!

I am creating objects and manipulating them and photos in Photoimpact..however I find I spend more time in Vegas linig up the lower third in the Pan /Crop area.. OK so its my second bug after
Vidcap...

Anyone got any useful tips, please?

thanks!

Why not use a lower third that you know works (lines up correctly) as a template and place yours over top of that and then delete the template?

Are you creating the image at the size of the video frame (e.g. 655x480 for NTSC), or just the size of the graphics themselves?

By creating the image at the size of the video frame, you can position it as you desire in your graphics program. There'll be no adjustment necessary in Vegas.

I always work in the video frame size. I use a variety - both PAL and NTSC..also multimedia.
when i create the graphics I have set up my own custom sizes in PhotoImpact to make things easier.

I will try that tip of yours. Thank you..

Pan and crop are - as the other threads mention - awkward .I feel like I'm flying a plane - with all the controls in reverse - even harder if you are a South Paw (left handed).

Ah.. Why not an additional joysyick controller for the pan Crop utility? Now that would make life easier!

Just thought of something else. Dogwaffle. Have you ever used this? It is free- I have not delved into it enough to know much about it, but I do know that when it starts up, it gives you aspect ratios for different video sizes so that you can start out with that project.

Also, under pan and crop, make sure that you change constrain aspect ratio to no.

I use custom thirds all the time - I make them left and right, and probably have at least as much experience making them as anyone. I do mine all in vegas however - I don't really use Photoshop except to cut out photos from stock images etc... not sure I quite grasp the problem you're having, but you're welcome to email me and I can try and help ya out as best I can.

Just click my name and shoot me an email via sony.

BTW,
if you use "the gimp" it has set sizes for NTSC etc... You'll have to get used to a little different interface, but it's free and does a pretty decent job.
