Hi all Just purchased Acid studio 6.0. When I render a project to MP3 it only seems to play back in mono. I am using winamp to play the file back. Winamp has the "mono" lit up while the file is playing back and the file sounds like it is playing in mono. However when i do a properties on the file it says it is in stereo. Other renderings ( wma, ogg) sound much better upon playback and also play back in stereo on winamp. Is there something I am missing about mp3 rendering? I have tried joint stereo as well as just stereo for rendering settings. I am sure its something easy I either dont understand or just something I am doing wrong. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Foz |

The joint stereo setting should do it. If you are sure that you are rendering in stereo, try another player like Musicmatch and see if it also thinks the file is mono. I don’t use winamp but all the MP3’s I make play back in stereo in Musicmatch Jukebox. I would contact the winamp folks and ask what determines when they light up the mono light because it sounds like they are relying on some flag or something but aren’t really checking for two streams. ~jr |

Hiya Jr :) I appreciate the response. I downloaded musicmatch and not only does ithe mp3 sound a lot better(no hiss in the background), but it shows that it is in stereo. I would have never thought it was a player issue since winamp plays the other formats correctly. I will check the winamp page to see if I can find out more info about this issue. Thanks for your help :) Foz |
