I'm using Acid Pro 4.0 and I'm very comfortable with it. However, newer versions offer some more features. But... Is there a risk of stability problems with 4.0 if 5.0 (or 6.0) is installed on the same computer ? Are both version completely independant ? I'm using Cakewalk VST adapter for effects. I guess the VST effects will appear twice in 5.0 or 6.0 (direct VST + wrapped directX) ? |

Is there a risk of stability problems with 4.0 if 5.0 (or 6.0) is installed on the same computer ? Are both version completely independant ? Each version is independant and install into separate folders. This goes for all Sony software (Sound Forge, Vegas, ACID etc...) I rountinely have multiple versions, of my Sony software installed with zero problems. I'm using Cakewalk VST adapter for effects. I guess the VST effects will appear twice in 5.0 or 6.0 (direct VST + wrapped directX) ? I use SONAR 5 also, and you will have two sets of VST fx available (one provided by the Cakewalk VST adapter and one from ACID), but they are labled differently so you will be able to tell which is which. Also, with the ACID Plugin Manager, fx are grouped into different folders by default (you can also setup your own folders). There is a folder called "VST" that just has the VST fx wrapped by ACID. You can get to the Cakewalk VST wrapped fx by opening the "All" folder which contains both ACID & Cakewalk VST fx. Cheers, Billy Buck |

I'd hold out for Acid 6 as well! Tony Mac |
