If I opened an mp3 file and edited it, then do save as. I know the quality of the file will lower of the saved as file, but will the quality of the mp3 file I opened to edit and didn't save over be affected at all?
Also, if I open an mp3 file and not edit it at all and save, will the quality still lower?
Last one, If I have an mp3 song/file and the quality is low. How would I go about making it sound better.

I'd really appreciate an answer thanks.

1) No, the original file is not affected.

2) Yes, it is saving the file (actually encoding while saving) that causes the quality hit. Of course, if you want another copy of the file without editing you can simply copy the file in Explorer rather than opening and saving it in Sound Forge.

3) Find a more original version that isn't compressed as much. Once the quality is gone it's gone forever.
