Subject:increasing volume on one section of a file

I am converting a 1992 interview into a sound forge file, and one section with a very important remark is so soft you can barely hear it, although it at least is clear. Is there a way to isolate that section and boost the volume without increasing the volume before and after it? I'm using Sound Forge 7. Thanks for any assistance!

Drag the cursor across that section to highlight it. Any effects or processing you do will be applied to that section only.

You can increase the volume (after you highlight the area) by going into Process:Volume or Effects:Wave Hammer I'd prefer volume.

Thank you! I didn't even know what the process function was for. This advice has been tremendously helpful.

You can also use the Graphic fade function Process> Fade> Graphic and adjust the envelope so the volume "ramps" up, so the level change may be is less noticable.
Or the automated Volume envelope. "V" key on SF-8.
