Subject:Clip Envelopes?

I just upgraded from acid 2 to acid 5pro. It looks to me like clip envelopes are a thing of the past? Am I correct?

Are there other ways in Acid 5 of tweaking clip properties other than track envelopes?

Thanks,

Ian

If I remember correctly (because it's been ages), envelopes were constrained to events in ACID 2, weren't they?

In any case, you could always use quick fades; just hover over the top right or left of the event in question, then click and drag. (You can also change the fade type by right-clicking the fade.)

EDITED TO ADD: Whoops. Forgot to add that you can only affect volume this way. You'll have to use track envelopes otherwise.

I use Sonar, so I think of them as clip envelopes. But yes, they're event specific. In Sonar (& I imagine other DAW softwares) you have the option of both types of envelopes. I use the clip envelopes a whole lot more than volume envelopes. Lowering the volume of a clip/event with a volume envelope requires making 4 nodes and lovering your level. Thats 6 steps including making the envelope. With a clip/event envelope, it requires 2 steps - making the envelope and lowering the level. Track envelopes are hugely more ineffecient in my workflow. Track envelopes also make adjusting the overall volume of the track difficult. I actually kinda find track envelopes almost worthless compared to clip envelopes.

Thanks for the info and reply. I'm gonna look into what's possible with quick fades, as you suggest.

Ian
