Subject:Place markers after 4 seconds of silence?

Hi there, I was wondering wether it's possible to have SF7 create Markers or Regions everytime the audio has been silent for 4 seconds. I've been screwing around with the Auto Region feature for a while, but it simply won't do what I want it to. Has anybody got any suggestions? Yours, Andra |

Try using the Edit Tempo tool (Special>Edit Tempo on the menu bar) to specify how many beats there are in a particular selection. For example, select the first 4 seconds, then use the Edit Tempo tool to specify you want four beats in that selection and click OK. Then use Auto Region with the "build regions using the current tempo" option set at 1 for measures and 0 for beats. Click OK. It should place regions every 4 seconds as a result. (You may have something shorter than 4 seconds at the end.) HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

Thanks, but that's not what I'm looking for. Your idea would result in a lot of regions, all lasting 4 seconds. What I'm looking for is (automaticaly) placing Markers every time the audio has been SILENT for more than 4 seconds. Kind of how most MD-recorders make trackmarks during recording. Yours, Andra |

You can identify the silent parts in Tools>Find, it will not place markers automatically though. This is after the fact but... in the Record mode. Right-click the Record window, select Gap Detection. |

Did you ever find a solution to this (using SF or not)? I need EXACTLY the same thing. I'm trying to cut up talk shows into segments based on commercial breaks. I need to detect gaps longer than normal speech pauses, but shorter than the pre/inter-commercial gaps. Thanks. |
