mainconcept mpeg encoders missing

I had to reinstall Windows the other day, and after reinstalling Vegas Video, suddenly my mpeg-2 and mpeg-1 render options went completely missing. I entered the serial number correctly for Vegas and the registration code. It's not stuck in "demo" mode. I e-mailed with Sony support a few times today, and the person told me to reinstall Vegas, that the mpeg render option is a plugin that gets installed with Vegas. So I uninstalled and reinstalled Vegas when I got home... the mpeg option is still missing. So I thought maybe I need to install it in a new location for some reason. So I uninstalled again and installed on my second hard drive, which has never hosted any programs, only files. Still, the mpeg option is not there when I go to "render as". This is driving me crazy!

Yes I've got legal copies of all the software. Yes I downloaded the .reg file and rebooted multiple times, no change.

If you have DVD Architect, also, register that.

I think someone had a problem with the MPEG window, and by doing an ALT-TAB combo, found the registration window there.

Search the forum for something similar, known bug.

I've been searching for a few days now. :(

I know the registration window wouldn't be there for mpeg rendering, because the option isn't there when I go to "render as" for mpeg.

If you have a pre-Vegas 5 version, sounds like you need to call Sony, the registration servers don't work right for the old Sonic Foundry versions:

If you use vegas 6, Forum Admins suggest you install DVD Architect (or at least the Demo version) which includes the latest MPEG updates.

Hey now that's a great idea! I haven't even installed DVD Architect because if I haven't been able to get my mpeg encoding to work I couldn't use it yet.

But that doesn't explain why my mp3 encoding isn't showing up in Sound Forge... :) but that's a different subject.

Just as a follow up, I did just install the demo version of DVD architect and the mpeg encoders showed back up. :) yay.
