Is there a way to have two different volumes per a track for one midi instrument without converting to a wave?

Thank you,
Randy

I don't think so. One instrument, one volume.

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to accomplish.

I take it you want the volume at time X to be one value and then change it at time Y to another value?

If so, use the Piano Roll, and switch the CC painting area to Volume. You can then paint in volume msgs where you want it relative to the MIDI file/clip.

You can also enter the raw MIDI Volume msg in the list edito exactly where you want it.

Each MIDI channel can have its own volume and expression control changes.

The volume (control change 7) should be used to adjust the absolute volume, e.g. the volume of a channel in the whole mix.

The expression (control change 11) should be used as relative volume within the channel, e.g. to add a crescendo or a decrescendo to sustained notes.

So, if the volume (CC 7) is set to 64 and the expression (CC 11) is set to 64, the resulting volume is 25% for that channel .
